Our culture is our priority
And the funny thing about culture? It’s not a static thing – it’s always changing, evolving, learning, growing.
At Jacknife we embrace our company culture like our lives depend on it. Because as a collective, we understand that collaboration isn’t just a nice-to-have… it’s mandatory. It elevates everything, driving creativity forward and pushing us to places we haven’t even thought of yet. And that’s a pretty good way to feel.
Culture Club
Building an enjoyable environment takes some effort and creativity. We have a volunteer-based Culture Club tasked with planning events, organizing staff get-togethers, and ensuring every employee feels recognized and valued. When you’ve got people like ours, they’re always worth it.
Studio
Our beautiful studio is as central as it gets. We’re located in the flagship 401 Richmond building in the heart of Toronto’s creative district, a late 1800’s industrial building turned arts & culture hub. We’ve got the natural light, exposed bricks, and post & beam atmosphere that designers dream of. Known for it’s eclecticism, the space is inspiring and the neighbourhood can’t be beat. This is where creativity lives.

Jacknife is looking for a highly experienced Senior Brand Designer to lead and shape creative work across a range of brand-driven projects. You’re a design-led thinker with a strong foundation in layout, systems, and visual communication, but you bring the confidence, maturity, and presence to lead conversations and guide decisions.
With 8–10+ years of experience, you’ve built a strong background in brand identity and visual systems, and know how to carry ideas from concept through execution. You’re as comfortable developing core brand thinking as you are applying it across touchpoints, including digital platforms, content, and web experiences.
You operate with a strong sense of ownership. You don’t wait for direction, you help define it. You contribute directly to the work while also guiding others, partnering closely with account and creative leads, and helping move projects forward with clarity and intent. You know when to push, when to listen, and how to navigate ambiguity without slowing momentum.
This role is hands-on. You’re expected to be deeply involved in the work, bringing a high level of craft, attention to detail, and consistency across everything you touch. At the same time, you play an active role in shaping direction, supporting team members, and elevating the overall output.
The right fit is critical. You’re confident, steady, and solutions-focused. You don’t get precious about the work and are adaptable to feedback or shifting priorities. You understand that great creative isn’t just about how it looks–it’s about how it works, how it scales, and how it performs in the real world.
You bring a strong point of view, without the ego. You’re organized, efficient, and comfortable operating at a high level while still getting your hands dirty. You build trust quickly, both internally and with clients, and you take ownership of the work from start to finish.Roles & Responsiblities
In this role, you will act as a senior creative voice across a range of brand-focused projects within a fast-paced, highly collaborative studio environment. You’ll work closely with a cross-functional team of designers, strategists, and account leads to deliver thoughtful, high-quality work while helping to guide creative direction and client relationships.
This role balances hands-on design with leadership, collaboration, and proactive thinking.
- Lead and contribute to the development of brand identities and visual systems, acting as a key creative voice across projects and client interactions
- Collaborate with and guide a team of designers, ensuring consistency, quality, and alignment across all deliverables
- Apply brand thinking across a range of touchpoints, including digital platforms, content, and web experiences
- Design for digital environments with an understanding of structure, responsiveness, and handoff to development partners
- Develop and evolve visual systems, templates, and scalable assets that support cohesive and flexible brand expression
- Lead and deliver across a wide range of outputs, from identity and brand systems to presentations, digital content, and environmental or spatial applications
- Bring proactive thinking to the work, identifying opportunities to strengthen, extend, or evolve ideas beyond the initial brief
- Present and communicate work with clarity, confidence, and strategic rationale, building trust with both internal teams and clients
- Partner closely with account and project leads to help shape workflow, manage expectations, and keep projects moving forward
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 8–10+ years of professional design experience (agency experience strongly preferred)
- A strong portfolio demonstrating brand identity and visual systems work, with the ability to lead ideas from concept through execution
- Strong foundation in graphic design, with advanced layout, typography, and systems thinking
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and Figma, with the ability to work fluidly across platforms
- Experience leading projects and working directly with clients, with confidence in presenting and communicating work clearly and effectively
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate ideas, provide feedback, and build trust with both internal teams and clients
- Ability to develop and guide creative concepts, not just execute within them
Ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on in execution - Experience translating brand across a range of touchpoints, including digital platforms, content, and web, with an understanding of responsive design and digital best practices
- Comfortable operating in fast-paced, evolving environments with shifting priorities
- Solutions-oriented with a proactive mindset, able to anticipate needs and identify opportunities beyond the brief
